1. I’d like to make a reservation.
在一些饭店中，你需要事先订位。筹备好告诉饭店你们一共有多少人，你会到达的时间及你的名字。"I’d like to make a reservation for four at 8 p.m. for Kristi." 前台接待或许会问你的联系电话或是你是不是需要抽烟区，事先考虑好这类信息。
2. Could you repeat that, please?
这个短语并不只用于在外用餐，但却尤为重要。餐厅可能非常吵，服务生说话也会非常快。假如你没听懂什么，就问他们，"Could you repeat that?"当然，容易说，"Excuse me?"也可以。别怕用的太多。
3. We need another minute.
假如服务生请你点餐而你还没决定的话，就可以用这句表达。你会听到，"Are you ready to order?" 用 "Not yet. We need another minute," 或是 "Can we have another minute?" 回答。注意"a minute"在一个繁忙的饭店里一般意味着服务生会在五分钟后回来为你点餐。
4. I’d like/I’ll have …
这是两句非常重要的表达。在点餐或是点饮料的时候，用"I’d like…"或是"I’ll have…" 比如，"I’d like the spaghetti and some tea," 或是 "I’ll have a sandwich and a soft drink." 手指着菜单也一直能被人了解的。
5. Could you bring…?/Do you have…?
假如你要更多的物品，就说 "Could you bring some extra napkins?" 假如你想要什么东西但不确定饭店是不是有些话就试着说，"Do you have…?" 比如，假如你想要橙汁但菜单上没的话，就可以问 "Do you have orange juice?"
6. This isn’t what I ordered.
假如服务生送错了菜，就说 "This isn’t what I ordered, I ordered…"接着说你点的菜。这并不容易见到，但假如真的发生的话，注意要说些什么来纠正。
7. Check, please!
当你筹备要走时，捕捉到服务生的注意同时说 "Check, please!" 作为你用餐短小而容易的结束语。
